More about Huxtable Farm and what you can do whilst you are here

Surrounded with open fields, woods and a stream, nestling in the foot hills of Exmoor National Park, approach Huxtable Farm by ‘Strawberry lane’, in which wild strawberries can be picked in early summer.

This secluded Medieval Devon Longhouse, dating back to 1520 has all the modern facilities amidst it’s many original features, such as oak screen panelling and beams, open fireplaces with bread ovens, uneven floors and low doorways!

It was here that the name ‘Huxtable’ originated in 1330.

tame lambs

The eighty acres of woodland and pasture are home to sheep (Jacobs and Texels), usually lambing in April, chickens, guinea fowl and much wildlife, rabbits, pheasants, buzzards, badgers and even deer in the early morning. Click here for a list of animals and plants identified on Huxtable Farm.

The sheep dog 'Polly' attempts to keep all in order whilst ‘Tigger’ the springer spaniel loves attention.

Picnic on ExmoorEnjoy the 'Devon Wildlife Farm Walk' through the woodland, pasture and next to the pond and stream. From the highest point on the farm enjoy wonderful panoramic views of Devonian fields with Exmoor and Dartmoor in the distance.
