Idyllic campsite
“I was searching for a peaceful and quiet campsite and have finally found one! Huxtable Farm only has three pitches, all on different parts of the farm, and you would never know anyone else was there. My pitch overlooked the next valley. I had my own shower room and use of a kitchen with a fridge/freezer. Jackie and her husband were really friendly and welcoming as well. I couldn’t fault the site. I will definitely be looking to return at some point.” Mark

“Best campsite we’ve been to. The pitches are private and nice and flat with the water nearby each plot, also there is a washroom with either a shower or bath for each plot. Also the use of a fridge/freezer microwave and table to eat at if it’s cold . Plugs to charge devices and a games room with a mini pool/snooker table and table football. Well sited to get on the a361 to get where you need too. A very warm welcome when we arrived and tour whilst meeting the farm dog peacocks with chick’s and the chickens. Really pleased we found this site and will definitely be coming back” Eliott

“Couldn’t have asked for anything better, especially for the price. The space between pitches is great and we still felt we had a lot of privacy, despite being in a tent. We had our own private washroom, which was really nice. Being able to walk and explore the land around was great as well. Having the animals around was really nice, especially seeing the lambs and the chicks.
Overall, couldn’t have been better. We are so happy we stayed here and we are definitely going to come back as soon as possible.

Best campsite ever- George, age 10
We booked for 5 nights, but would have happily stayed 2 weeks.

We booked pitch #1(of 3), a private, secluded pitch ideal for a small family. We had woodland to one side and fields of sheep & lambs to the other. Plenty of room for games of frisbee, football, Kubb etc.

We got regular visits from Pedro the peacock, a confusion of Guineafowl and Chickens (complete with chicks), which were always welcome.

Being amongst the working farm was totally relaxing, the private shower and toilet (2 mins walk away) made this a perfect balance between camping and glamping – exactly what we were looking for and totally unique!

We enjoyed local days out to Woolacombe Beach, rockpooling at Combe Martin, Segway Experience and Quad Biking, but equally enjoyed the walk around the farm where my daughter discovered a hidden community of fairies – nice touch!

My 10 year old boy absolutely loved the site, being surrounded by nature and wildlife. He’s obsessed with hedgehogs right now and Jackie showed him camera footage of a hedgehog entering the farm at night. She even setup the camera again for us one evening, but this time he was a no-show. All this topped off with a games room meant that for him (8 years camping, averaging 3 x per year) this was the best site he had ever been to, demanding we come back again soon. Apparently (discovered on the journey home) the addition of a few rope swings is the only way this site could be improved!!! 🙂

Can’t rate this site highly enough and cannot wait to return for longer. Can’t think of a thing to improve, and hope it stays very much the same!

Such a warm welcome from Jackie, Antony and Bella the dog.

A really special campsite – Martyn W
We have just had the most relaxing few nights at Huxtable Farm. I would like to keep this place a secret but that would just be rude. We stayed on pitch 3 and the second we arrived we were awed by the view from the pitch and then the sun setting behind the village church in the distance. It was a great start to the holiday. Each pitch has its own toilet/bathroom facilities, which was a real bonus. There was a short walk to them but no long queues for showers! The shower was also nice and powerful. The washing-up room again was brilliant. Fridge freezer, microwave and toaster along with plenty of plugs if you need to charge any items.
A small games room was a big hit with our son and we all enjoyed the treasure trail around the farm. If you want the feel of wild camping with a spot of luxury this is perfect.

Idyllic campsite with something for everyone! – Alison T
My boyfriend and I recently stayed here for 4 nights and we honestly cannot recommend this site enough! From the moment we arrived Jackie and Antony were so polite and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble and they really made us feel so welcome!

The farm is absolutely stunning, and we definitely recommend using the map to go exploring! It’s so worth it! We weren’t lucky enough to see any deer but we still saw so many animals, and the views are wonderful – even in the rain! The pitch itself was perfect. We had a stunning view of the hills and it was the perfect size for our setup. Be aware there is barely any signal once you get onto the pitch, but there is free WiFi in the communal areas which is really useful!

The facilities were amazing and clean, there’s even a fridge/ freezer in the communal washroom which was incredibly useful! We couldn’t get over the amount of facilities here, the best I’ve seen at any campsite! The games room has no shortage of activities, and there’s plenty of information available for places to eat and attractions to see in the local area.

The little touches throughout the farm really go the extra mile, we bought apple juice and jam and really recommend giving them a try – they’re delicious! Our only comment is that our bathroom came with the bath and a shower attachment. This was no issue for myself, but as my boyfriend is 6 ft 3 he struggled to use the shower attachment as it lost water pressure. That being said this is a 16th century farmhouse; so this is to be expected, and the water was always lovely and warm! Also having a private bathroom on a campsite really is an amazing luxury.

Overall we had an absolutely amazing time staying at Huxtable Farm, it’s definitely my favourite campsite I’ve been to. It’s the perfect location for a romantic couples getaway, a family holiday, or even a solo trip! I really could go on about how lovely this campsite is, I cannot recommend it enough!
