Here at Huxtable Farm we would like to thank all our log customers, B&B and camping guests, for your support during the past year and wish you & your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

As we look forward to 2026 and welcoming you to Huxtable Farm, a special place in North Devon, we are lucky enough to call home, we’d like to remind you to book early so that you don’t miss out on the dates and pitch or room you wish to book.
Open April – September, two en-suite family B&B rooms and four unique, secluded camping pitches, each with their own wash room. An ideal get away for families who have those who wish to be more outdoorsy, camping and others who wish for the comforts of an en-suite bedroom, with breakfast!

In the mean time, we are busy harvesting, preparing, storing and delivering logs, so that our North Devon customers have a warm and cosy Christmas & New Year.

Each B&B bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, towels, tea/coffee tray and toiletries. You can either book just the room or room with breakfast, freshly cooked breakfast using farm and local produce, served in the medieval farmhouse dining room, next to a crackling log fire.

Each pitch is situated in it’s own designated area on the farm, away from anyone else and has its own washroom back at the farrn buildings. There’s a communal kitchen, with sink, microwave, toaster, fridge & freezer space for all to use too.

FIREWOOD – Well seasoned hard wood and soft wood LOGS, suitable for wood burners and open fires.

Our well seasoned hardwood and softwood is over 12mths old then cut, split and stored in a barn until suitably seasoned to ensure that the logs are ready to burn.

Autumn has officially arrived and with it a change in the weather, i.e some much needed rain,  having enjoyed a mostly dry, sunny summer.

The day light hours are getting shorter, sunrises & sunsets stunning and some trees are already changing colour. We’ve even harvested our first crop of apples and had them pressed into apple juice, available for campers to purchase and B&B visitors to enjoy at breakfast. 

Antony & I would like to say a big “THANK YOU”, to all who came to stay at Huxtable Farm during 2025. It’s always a pleasure to welcome new and  returning visitors to Huxtable Farm.

The two B&B rooms and the four, unique camping pitches, each with their own wash room, are now closed. until April 2025.  During the Autumn and Winter months, Antony & I, are busy running our woodland business, selling logs locally for log burners and creating bespoke wooden tables & furniture.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Huxtable Farm in 2026; We are already getting bookings for 2026, (not yet visable on the website but in my diary), so in order not to miss out on your favourite camping pitch or B&B bedroom, do get in touch by e-mail; jackie@huxtablefarm.co.uk

It is with great sadness, that we write to inform you that our beautiful Springer Spaniel, Bella, was been taken from us too early, at the end of August, due to liver failure. Many of you will have enjoyed a walk and cuddle with Bella, whilst Bella enjoyed having her tummy scratched by you. RIP sweet, adorable, loving Bella, we miss you so much.

It’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas gifts , please do have a look at our unique Christmas gifts made from our Jacob sheep wool, including Jacob wool throws & cushions, knitting kits, hand knitted hats and more. August – Things to do in North Devon

Now that the summer days are here camping at Huxtable Farm is popular, especially if you wish to camp with no other campers next to you and have your own private bathroom.

If you have family members who are not keen on camping, then Huxtable Farm has the luxury of being able to offer them Huxtable Farms B&B accommodation, whilst those who wish to camp under canvas or the stars can still do so.

With the farm (woodland, pasture, pond & stream) to explore, via it’s Devon Wildlife Trail, you have a chance to ‘ Get back to nature’, breath in the countryside and enjoy the unique space our farm has to offer. Meet Pedro, the peacock, hens, guinea fowl and Jacob sheep.

Explore the farm via it’s Devon Wildlife Farm Trail or Treasure Trail; fish for newts and see what other wildlife you can find in the pond. Count how many teapots are hanging in the teapot tree and find the fairies or build a den in the woods. Here’s a link to some other suggestions of FREE things you can do on the farm too.

July & August are fantastic times to visit the wonderful gardens in North Devon including; RHS Rosemoor, with it’s Rose festival, Castle Hill Gardens (just 3 miles down the road from Huxtable Farm), Marwood Hill gardens just the other side of Barnstaple, Tapeley Park at Instow and National Trust Arlington Court, 12 miles north west of Huxtable Farm.

For the adverturous, there are bike trails, such as the Tarka trail or mountain biking on Exmoor with ‘Exmoor Adventures‘ who also offer paddle boarding, kayaking, rock climbing & archery. Coasteering and Paddle boarding around the North Devon coast & surfing at the reknowned beaches of Croyde, Saunton and Woolacombe, or kite surfing at Westward Ho! Off road adventures at ‘Keypitts’, where you can have a 4X4 Landrover experience, go Quad biking or Axe throwing.

Picking & jam making has begun – Elderflower & Gooseberry jam first, followed by redcurrant jelly, blackcurrant, loganberry and raspberry jams. The jam can be tasted at breakfast on your warm buttered toast or croissant,  or sample the fruit fresh /or as a compote added to yogurt, yum!

June and July are great months to visit the beautiful gardens of North Devon to see what they do with their fruit or enjoy their summer plants; Castle Hill Gardens is only 3miles from Huxtable Farm, Marwood Hill gardens just the other side of Barnstaple, Tapeley Park at Instow, National Trust Arlington Court 12 miles away and RHS Rosemoor to the south at Torrington with its Festival of Roses 14th June to 13th July.

Huxtable Farm is ideally situated on the lking trails Tarka Trail,  9 miles east of Barnstaple and The Macmillan Way West, 10 miles west of Challacombe and 11 miles west of Simonsbath, just right for a days walk! In addition The South West Coast Path (England’s longest National Trail, 630 miles), as featured in the film and book ‘The Salt Path’, is 15miles to the north and west of Huxtable Farm, ideal for walking sections of the coast path and returning to the comforts of an en-suite bedroom with a bath to soak in! During June, the sheep are shorn and the fleeces are sold to spinners & weavers but I always keep one to spin my own wool too. Please do look at what else is available to purchase made from the wool of our Jacob sheep. In addition to Jacob wool items; throws, cushions, knitted hats and toys, we also have some prints and cards of my water colour paintings available to purchase, please do have a look at some of them here – Gifts from Huxtable Farm.

To celebrate Huxtable Farmhouse being over 500 years old we are giving everyone who stays at Huxtable Farm a free copy of our book ‘Huxtable The Story of a Devon Farm’, with historic facts about the farm and its buildings, including ancestery of the name’Huxtable’, said to have originated here. May is a fabulous month for Walking in North Devon & Exmoor – The Macmillan Way West and Tarka Trail, both pass the entrance to Huxtable Farm, so we get quite a few staying over night and we always enjoying hearing about everyone’s adventures! Then there’s the South West Coast Path (Raynor Winn’s memoir, ‘The Salt Path’ film in cinemas 30th May) ; with the stunning sandy beaches of Woolacombe, Saunton & Westward Ho! and Croyde beach, one of the best surfing beaches in the UK. The two points, either end of Woolacombe beach, Baggy Point and Morte Point are both stunning to walk, with views out to Lundy Island – a wildlife haven to visit and for a chance to swim with seals!

If you enjoy a walk in the countryside, Huxtable Farm’s Devon Wildlife farm trail has beautiful wild flowers and foliage e..g. bluebells and wild garlic, to enjoy in its varied habitats; woodland, pasture, pond, bracken slope and hedges. To make it even more interesting we also have a ‘Treasure Trail’ for you to enjoy!

With so much to do in the garden at this time of year it’s always great to have a break and visit RHS Rosemoor Gardens and see what the experts are doing and get inspiration. Other glorious Gardens of North Devon include Castle Hill Gardens (just down the road from Huxtable Farm) looks fabulous this month with it’s camellias in flower as does Marwood Hill Garden with it’s beautiful wisteria archway.
